Illustrations for the UN World Food Programme
Series of Illustration for the UN World Food Programme Ukraine about their activities during Russia’s war on Ukraine like food aid to front-line cities, financial aid to displaced persons and war victims, Grain from Ukraine initiative, school meals, cooperation with bread factories and much more.
Sketches of objects
In this series of illustrations, I had to draw various types of equipment such as ships exporting grain from Ukrainian ports, UN trucks carrying food aid, all-terrain vehicles for delivering aid to hard-to-reach cities with blown-up bridges, and more
Character Sketches
Above all, the main part of these illustrations is people. People who suffer from war, who help them to survive, who fight injustice, and who continue to work despite what.
Color search & Final palette
The color palette was created based on the brand blue color of UN WFP. Initially, I selected bright contrasting colors, but later opted for deep, natural shades which were less cheerful. The final color palette is more appropriate for the War topic, yet not too dark or despairing
The main challenge
The main challenge of this request was to find a balance between depicting the real horrors of war and maintaining a sense of hope and faith in a normal life. I strived to create illustrations that were neither too gloomy nor too cheerful, but rather a silent reflection of the struggles we face.
Using
The illustrations were used to design the humanitarian mission's calendar and social media accounts.
